The Poltergeist remake had just released a new trailer and it is a nerve-rattling very scary trailer indeed.
The film stars Sam Rockwell, Rosemary DeWitt, and Jared Harris and is directed by Gil Kenan. The movie is produced by Sam Raimi, who was the famous director of the Spiderman franchise that starred Tobey Maguire.
The original Poltergeist was legendary for terrifying children at sleepovers across the country. We'll see if the remake can live up to the 1982 version when it hits theaters in July.
According to Rockwell, the movie will be in 3D and had further explained the plot: "The 10-year-old boy is really the protagonist this time. JoBeth Williams was the protagonist for the most part in the first one [she played the mother] and now the kid, it's really through his point-of-view. So it's more of a kids' movie so I don't know if it's gonna be like rated-R scary."
While the trailer is out there for critic's evaluation, some of these critics had already given their insight on the upcoming horror film remake. Forrest Wickman of Slate Magazine opined that the trailer made the film appear to be too similar to the original film. James Hibberd of Entertainment Weekly said that the trailer "retains and amplifies several elements from the original", and praised that the "the modernizing doesn't result in, say, the family's daughter being kidnapped by ghosts in Snapchat". Brad Miska of Bloody Disgusting stated that "while every fiber of my being wants to reject it, [the film] actually looks pretty insane", and praised the trailer's final shot. Ben Kuchera of Polygon also opined that the trailer appeared to be similar to the original film, but that it "looks great, as a horror movie".
Poltergeist release date will be on July 24, 2015.
