Kristen Stewart who's known for dating the werewolf Jacob as Bella Swan in the Twilight film series has actually long been sharing her real-life home with a wolf-dog hybrid named Jack.
Back in 2010, in an appearance on the "Late Show with David Letterman," the actress shared some pictures of herself and Jack. In the interview, she told the host: "This is my pet, this is Jack. He's our oldest male. I know he looks kind of scary, he's a wolf. He's really sweet, he, like, falls at my feet. They told us he was a wolf. I don't know what kind of wolf he is. They are wolf-dogs, they are hybrids. It's my mom's deal (idea). Maybe it was a bit of empty nest syndrome, she wanted more children - because they really are hard to take care of. She likes them. Wolf-hybrids are legal."
When Letterman reminded Stewart that wolf packs go around killing herds of elk, Stewart answered back: "And you know what? It's such an awful thing because all the hunters have much more of a privilege to shoot them because that's the only reason we're killing the wolves, and it's awful."
About the wolf-dogs they keep on their property, Kristen's mother Jules, a Hollywood script supervisor and director, in a 2013 interview with US Weekly clarified: "The honest truth about the animals is, years ago I rescued a few wolf-hybrids, and they live on a large open piece of property filled with trees. These animals are perfectly legal in the state of California. They're not pets, they're more like companions. They're loyal, they're big, they're completely socialized, they're licensed, they're legal for me to have them, and I love them!"
The older Stewart does not recommend that wolf-hybrids be kept as pets by just about anyone. She adds that keeping them may not even be legal in some U.S. states.
