"Orange is the New Black" has wrapped up filming for the upcoming Season 3 and the new episodes will premiere on Netflix this Summer. More casting updates have surfaced about the new season including Poussey (Samira Wiley) having a larger role. In Season 2, Poussey alienated herself from the other girls after her disagreement with Vee (Lorraine Toussaint) on how she was running things.
Black Cindy (Adrienne C. Moore) will also have an expanded role in Season 3. Last season, viewers learned some of her back story that had to do with her mother and daughter. In Season 3, fans may finally figure out why she is in jail.
The cast and crew have keep pretty quiet but one thing that we have learned though is that Season 3 will be exploring the subject of 'faith' shared show creator, Jenji Kohan. The hit Netflix show has also announced that they are bringing back Lori Petty (Tank Girl, League of Their Own) for the upcoming third season of the hit Netflix show.
She will continue her role as Lolly, who Piper (Taylor Schilling) meets on a transport plane. Also announced guest stars appearing in "Orange is the New Black" Season 3 are Mary Steenburgen, Blair Brown, and Mike Birbiglia.
"Orange is the New Black" was nominated for 12 Emmy Awards this year and Taylor Schilling was also nominated for 'Best Actress'.
The show is based around Taylor Schilling, who plays Piper Chapman that gets sent to prison 10 years after she got caught up in transporting drug money across international lines. "Orange is the New Black" is made by 'Weeds' creator Jenji Kohan, and is based on the true story of Piper Kerman's year spent in prison that she wrote about in her memoir.
"Orange is the New Black" became the latest hit series for Netflix after a surprisingly huge reaction to its first season this summer. Netflix has hit the right formula lately with the hugely successful "House of Cards" Season 1 & 2 releasing to great reviews as well. "House of Cards" Season 2 released earlier in 2014.
"Orange is the New Black" Season 1 raised eyebrows for it's controversial yet honest portrayal of prison life for women that is not been discussed much in popular culture especially through a series.
Netflix is set to release "Orange is the New Black" Season 3 coming next Summer, in June 2015.
