Jessica Chastain had pleaded from her fellow A-listers on a timely issue in Hollywood about diversity, or rather the lack thereof. The Interstellar actress channels the issue via her acceptance speech after being chosen as the Critics' Choice 2015 MVP Award.

"Today is Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday," Chastain noted in her speech for the MVP Award on Thursday evening. "So, it got me thinking about our need to build the strength of diversity in our industry."

Chastain went on to plead with her fellow stars "to stand together against homophobic, sexist, misogynistic, anti-Semitic, and racist agendas."

Calling herself an optimist, she said, "I can't help but feel hopeful about the future of film -- especially looking at all these beautiful people in this room. Martin Luther King Jr. said, 'Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.' And I would like to encourage everyone in this room to please speak up."

The 37-year-old actress was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress category for most of the award-giving bodies in her portrayal of Anna Morales in the critically-acclaimed movie, A Most Violent Year. She co-stars alongside Oscar Isaac, playing as Abel Morales.

The actress will be seen next in the Guillermo del Toro horror film, Crimson Peak, alongside British actor Tom Hiddleston, Alice in Wonderland actress Mia Wasikowska and Sons of Anarchy actor, Charlie Hunnam.

Her next project will be the Ridley Scott film, The Martian. She plays the female lead as Melissa Lewis and Matt Damon will play Mark Watney.
