Fox's Gotham Season One's 13th episode which airs on Monday, January 19, is titled "What the Little Bird Told Him." According to the studio's synopsis, it will follow the activities of the criminal Jack Gruber (played by guest star Christopher Heyerdahl), also known as "The Electrocutioner," a patient at Arkham Asylum who was seen escaping during the previous episode. Detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) in an attempt to get his job at the precinct back will be seen trying to recapture Gruber. His old partner, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, will help him, as will the asylum's physician, Dr. Leslie Thompkins (played by guest star Morena Baccarin).
Meanwhile, Don Carmine Falcone (played by John Doman) struggles to hold onto his empire after Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) finally makes her next move in order to be the new crime boss in Gotham. Also, Oswald 'Penguin' Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) has been released from prison and is back in his place with Don Sal Maroni (David Zayas). He is also a double agent for Falcone and he has figured out what Fish is up to so he could be 'the little bird' in the title who will tell.
Gotham's regular and recurring cast includes McKenzie,Logue, Pinkett-Smith, Taylor, Doman, Zayas, along with Sean Pertwee as Alfred, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman, Zabryna Guevara as Captain Sarah Essen, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma/The future Riddler, Victoria Cartagena as Renee Montoya, Andrew Stewart Jones as Crispus Allen, Richard Kind as Mayor Aubrey James, Clare Folly as Ivy Pepper, Drew Powell as Fish's right-hand man Butch, Carol Kane as Penguin's mother Gertrud Kapelput, Makenzie Leigh as the singer Liza, and Nicholas D'Agosto as Assistant District Attorney Harvey Dent.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Baccarin who has been guesting as Dr.Thomkins since last week's episode was brought on board with an option to become a regular member of the cast if the series gets a second season. Asked what she thinks of the possibility, the star of such cult favorites as Homeland, Firefly, and V, said: "I was excited by the possibility. I feel like, it's one of those things that you have to wait and see how it works. You bring on any major new character, and you have to see how all the moving parts and going to hold together. But I think there's a lot of possibility for her to stick around for a bit." Incidentally, Baccarin is also already on another DC Comics-based TV series. She is the voice of Gideon, Dr. Wells computer at STAR Labs in The Flash.
