Favorite Blue-Eyed Champion Derek Hough Leaves 'Dancing With the Stars'; Will Return in Fall

There is some bad news in store for "Dancing with the Stars" fans! Their favorite and beloved star Derek Hough is leaving the dancefloor.

Hough is all set to star alongside actress Laura Benanti in New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. He will be playing the character of Jack for the Spring production. So, if you miss him on the dance floor, you can catch him in this production soon.

The "DWTS" star has secured the much sought-after "Dancing With The Star" Mirrorball Trophy for five times, which is a record in itself. Dirty Dancing's Jennifer Grey and Glee actress' Amber Riley were some of his favorite celebrity partners on the show.

The limited show, "New York Spring Spectacular," with Hough in the male lead begins on March 12 and runs through May 3. Hough is happy that he would be able to perform in "New York Spring Spectacular" that celebrates everything what the New York City is all about. He is excited about his performance in the show and the reaction from his fans when they see him in a different persona. All those missing him on the dance show can sure catch him here.  This would a good opportunity to see another side of your favorite star.

Hough is a professional Latin and ballroom dancer as well as a leading choreographer. He won a Primetime Emmy Award for 'Outstanding Choreography' in 2013. He has also worked in a number of stage productions and has shown his stellar performances not only on the dance floor but also on the stage.

Fans need not despair however, as the blue-eyed dancing star plans to return to "Dancing with the Stars" again in the fall!
