Phylicia Rashad Defends 'TV Husband' Bill Cosby On National Television, See Her Statement Here (VIDEO)

Bill Cosby's 'TV wife' spoke for the first time on camera publicly and was in defense of her friend and former co-star. Her comments came on the same day that three more women came forward accusing Cosby of sexual assault. Phylicia claims that the women are just trying to attack his legacy. When asked why so many women would care to do that, she did not have a response. You can watch the clip above from World News Tonight on ABC.  

Bill Cosby has reportedly decided to go on the offensive after the sexual assault claims keep piling in, up to over two dozen now. According to Page Six, he has hired a Glendale based firm to begin digging up information to discredit his rape-accusers. Cosby is reportedly paying six figures to the firm that has several former LAPD on staff who do detective work which he and his attorney Martin Singer are hoping to find information to discredit the assures. 

The 77-year-old comedian has stayed silent on the issue and Singer would only respond by saying, "You [the media] don't need private investigators to find out information about the accusers. A simple Google search will obtain the information."

We heard from Bill's daughter Evin, 38, previously who had some strong statements about making accusations against people. 

"He is the FATHER you thought you knew. The Cosby Show was my today's tv reality show. Thank you. That's all I would like to say :)" she told Access Hollywood.

"Rape is a serious allegation and it is suppose [sic] to be taken VERY seriously but so is Falsely accusing someone. When someone rapes a person they go to prison. THAT should also happen to the person that has wrongfully accused an innocent victim.They are not ONLY destroying innocent people's life [sic] they are ALSO making it hard for the MEN and Women to find justice when they have been raped," Evin also posted on Facebook recently.

His wife, Camille, released her first public statement to defend her husband last month against all of the various rape allegations that have come to light the last several months.

"I met my husband, Bill Cosby, in 1963, and we were married in 1964. The man I met, and fell in love with, and whom I continue to love, is the man you all knew through his work. He is a kind man, a generous man, a funny man, and a wonderful husband, father and friend. He is the man you thought you knew," the statement shares.

"A different man has been portrayed in the media over the last two months. It is the portrait of a man I do not know," Camille continues. "It is also a portrait painted by individuals and organizations whom many in the media have given a pass. There appears to be no vetting of my husband's accusers before stories are published or aired. An accusation is published, and immediately goes viral."

"We all followed the story of the article in the Rolling Stone concerning allegations of rape at the University of Virginia. The story was heart-breaking, but ultimately appears to be proved to be untrue," Camille says in the statement. "Many in the media were quick to link that story to stories about my husband - until that story unwound," she says.

"None of us will ever want to be in the position of attacking a victim. But the question should be asked - who is the victim?" Camille concludes.
