"Orange is the New Black" Season 3 premieres on Netflix this Summer and the filming has wrapped for the new episodes.
According to Buzzfeed, Ruby Rose has joined the cast for Season 3. The 28-year-old Australian actress will play the role of Stella Carlin, "an inmate at Litchfield Federal Correctional Institution whose sarcastic sense of humor and captivating looks quickly draw the attention of some of Litchfield's inmates."
Ruby herself wrote on Facebook, "Grab yourself a copy of U.S ELLE MAGAZINE and read about my new role on a small unheard of series called Orange Is The New Black.. ( insert sarcasm ) Haha I am very excited and honored to be named one of the Magazines fresh faces on TV to watch in 2015."
Elle spoke on Ruby joining the show saying, "Ruby Rose, 28, oozes raw sex appeal even in an orange jumpsuit, as the newest inmate - and lust object of both Piper [Taylor Schilling] and Alex [Laura Prepon] - at Litchfield Penitentiary on this summer's third season of Orange Is the New Black."
"Orange is the New Black" Season 3 will be exploring the subject of 'faith' shared show creator, Jenji Kohan. The hit Netflix show has also announced that they are bringing back Lori Petty (Tank Girl, League of Their Own) for the upcoming third season of the hit Netflix show. She will continue her role as Lolly, who Piper (Taylor Schilling) meets on a transport plane. Also announced guest stars appearing in "Orange is the New Black" Season 3 are Mary Steenburgen, Blair Brown, and Mike Birbiglia.
"Orange is the New Black" was nominated for 12 Emmy Awards this year and Taylor Schilling was also nominated for 'Best Actress'.
The show is based around Taylor Schilling, who plays Piper Chapman that gets sent to prison 10 years after she got caught up in transporting drug money across international lines. "Orange is the New Black" is made by 'Weeds' creator Jenji Kohan, and is based on the true story of Piper Kerman's year spent in prison that she wrote about in her memoir.
Netflix has hit the right formula with the hugely successful "House of Cards" Season 1 & 2 releasing to great reviews as well. "House of Cards" Season 2 released earlier in 2014. "Orange is the New Black" Season 1 raised eyebrows for it's controversial yet honest portrayal of prison life for women that is not been discussed much in popular culture especially through a series.
Netflix is set to release "Orange is the New Black" Season 3 coming this Summer, June 2015.
