Tom Cruise is one of the very few A-list actors who remains at the top since his breakthrough courtesy of Top Gun. He is one actor who never ceases to bring action movies that draw huge box-office crowds through the years. But his association to the Church of Scientology is one who has been taking him a backseat especially his marriages. And now, it would seem that the church will mess up over the production of his upcoming Mission Impossible fifth installment movie. For the previous months, there were no issues arousing in the production, until this time.
A legal battle is ensuing between Cruise and his ex-wife Katie Holmes over the custody of daughter Suri and the church plays an integral part in the couple's misunderstandings. According to reports, these problems had cropped out into the Mission Impossible 5 production.
Cruise's battle is somewhat interfering in his playing the role of Ethan Hunt. The problem is reportedly based on the fact that Cruise had spent extensive periods of time out of the country due to his work, and has now requested extended custody time as a result, in order to make up for what he's lost. Katie Holmes, on the other hand, has been reluctant to agree to that, stating that Tom Cruise's work is his own problem entirely, and he should be the one finding a way to spend more time with his daughter, not the court.
Holmes is scared that the church might abduct Suri to help out Cruise in the legal battle, which is obviously an extreme paranoia on her part. But it is a well-known fact that the Church of Scientology is not to be messed with, and they are never afraid to act within their reach with any means they have available.
In any case, it's obvious at this point that the sooner this legal battle ends, the faster Holmes will be able to feel safe and relaxed again, something which is difficult enough when fighting in court, but probably doubly so with the threat of Scientology looming over one's head.
