The Big Bang Theory remains the most-watched TV sitcom on American TV. The show is the second most watched from the fall TV season. On the top spot is Sunday Night Football and behind The Big Bang Theory is NCIS. Sunday Night Football is from the NBC channel while TBBT and NCIS are from CBS.
The show is now on its eight season and stars Johnny Galecki as Leonard Hofstadter, Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper, Kaley Cuoco as Penny, Simon Helberg as Howard Howard Wolowitz, Kunal Nayyar as Raj Koothrappali, Melissa Rauch as Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz and Mayim Bialik as Amy Farrah Fowler.
In another news, some say that every sitcom out there has a conspiracy theory claiming that "nobody laughs at these jokes" and the show uses a generic laugh track for every comedic scene. Well this is really not the case as every episode filmed is in front of a live audience who came from different parts of the world. There are set-ups that allow the participation of the audience and more that occur between takes, especially when the cast comes out that generates a huge applause from the spectators.
In this video, many of the cast members, including Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, and more, discuss how this structure really helps the show with its energy, and how they understand the importance of performing well in front of this crowd. Meanwhile, they also speak to the "genius" of executive producer Chuck Lorre, who discusses how he still enjoys doing these 22-minute shows. He really has to, given that he has four of them currently on the air. With Two and a Half Men airing its finale next month, that number will be down to three soon enough.
New episodes of The Big Bang Theory will begin taping again this month; Cuoco spent her hiatus having surgery, but she should be recovered in plenty of time to play Penny once again for the show.
The Big Bang Theory is seen every Thursdays on CBS.
