There are some exotic things that you don't want to catch.
It would seem that bad luck loves to chase after everyone's wild child, Lindsay Lohan, and it would seem this time it's not drugs or alcohol but a painful and untreatable disease.
The former Mean Girls star revealed to her fans last December 27 that she is currently suffering from a disease called Chikungunya over her exotic vacation. She revealed this through an Instagram post with the caption "Before I got chikungunya. use [bug] spray please. God bless," according to US Weekly. The following day Lohan reassured her fans with the tweet, "Being sick is no fun. But happy new year everyone. Be safe. Love all."
Chikungunya, according to the World Health Organization, is a "viral disease (genus Alphavirus) which is transmitted to humans by infected mosquitoes - including Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus". Its symptoms usually appear between 4 to 7 days after the person was bitten and would include high fevers, rashes, fatigue, nausea and joint pains. Thankfully, this is not fatal but the victim usually suffers muscle and joint pains as if they have arthritis and it does not have any cure yet.
The former child actress flew to her French Polynesian vacation right after her West End production of Speed the Plow.
But Lohan somewhat tried to keep her spirits up as she posted a selfie with her friends and the caption, "In good faith with good people. I refuse to let a virus [affect] my peaceful vacation be safe and happy on the new year all," according to US Weekly. It would seem that she is getting better as Speed the Plow marks her return in her acting career.
The actress is also busy filming a new documentary series which will soon air on OWN, Oprah Winfrey's channel.
