"So usually in show business they say break a leg, but for me it'd be a lot more befitting to say sprain a knee, because I can barely walk right now, so I'm sorry for my graceful entrance," Chloe Grace Moretz joked as she accepted People Magazine's Next Generation Star Award on December 18 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. "I am only 17 years old but I feel like one of the luckiest 17-year-olds in the world. Thank you guys so much. It's a tremendous honor," added the actress who came in a silky white shirt-dress lined with tulle and wearing matching silver T-strap pumps.
Just the day before, Moretz was seen literally hobbling through the LAX airport terminal on crutches with a big black brace strapped to her knee. According to her rep, shesuffered a 'slight sprain' after doing one of her own stunts in the film The Fifth Wave, which is currently shooting in Atlanta. "She does all of her own stunts," said her rep.
Moretz who's remembered for her roles in Kick-Ass, Hugo, Let Me In, The Equalizer, If I Stay and Clouds of Sils Maria, portrays the 16-year-old Cassie Sullivan, the main protagonist in The Fifth Wave, director J. Blakeson's film adaptation of the 2013 young-adult science fiction novel of the same name by Rick Yancey. According to the plot summary, the film follows the story of Cassie as she "tries to survive in a world devastated by the waves of an alien invasion that has already decimated the population and knocked mankind back to the Stone Age."
Moretz is joined in the cast of The Fifth Wave by Nick Robinson, Ron Livingston, Maggie Sif, Alex Roe, Liev Schreiber, Maika Monroe, Talitha Bateman, Zachary Arthur, and Tony Revolori. Produced by Columbia Pictures, The Fifth Wave is the first in a planned trilogy. The film is scheduled for release to theaters on January 29, 2016.
