"How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris is hosting the 2015 Oscar Awards and they released a new teaser for the holidays, which you can check out above. The Academy Awards will take place on February 22, 2015 at 7pm est.
"It is truly an honor and a thrill to be asked to host this year's Academy Awards. I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show," Neil said in a statement after being confirmed as host earlier this year. "To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true."
Harris starred alongside Ben Affleck the hit David Fincher movie Gone Girl. The movie is the big-screen adaptation of Gillian Flynn's novel of the same name. However Flynn told her former employer, Entertainment Weekly, that she rewrote the book's controversial ending at Fincher's request for the film. Gone Girl also stars Tyler Perry, Emily Ratajkowski, Scoot McNairy, Missi Pyle and Patrick Fugit.
"American Horror Story: Freak Show" (Season 4) on FX also announced earlier this year that the cast would be adding Neil Patrick Harris ("How I Met Your Mother") to the show on a limited role. Now, we know that his scenes have officially been shot as he tweeted, "Just finished filming my last scene for American Horror Story. I need to take a shower. Wash off all this horror."
Neil has been cast to play a salesman in the final two episodes of the season. Creator Ryan Murphy had offered Neil and David to appear in the first season, but it did not work out until now.
"American Horror Story: Freak Show" (Season 4) premiered on FX on Wednesday, Oct 8th and the show has already been picked up for a fifth season, THR reports. The Season 4 premiere was the highest rated episode in the series history to date.
