The popular organization To Write Love On Her Arms is releasing a feature film of the same name in 2015. The movie stars Kat Dennings ("2 Broke Girls") along with Chad Michael Murray, Rupert Friend and Corbin Bleu. You can check out the trailer above.
To Write Love on Your Arms centers on "Renee Yohe (Dennings) and her battle with drugs, depression, and other life issues that ultimately leads to the founding of charity group To Write Love on Her Arms."
The organization was birthed out of Renne's true story that started a global movement. To Write Love on Her Arms presents a vision of hope, healing and redemption. In a creative blend of artistic fantasy and music conflicted with hard reality, Renee discovers the value of genuine friendships and embarks on a daunting yet courageous journey towards recovery.
The To Write Love On Her Arms film is set to be released in March 2015 from director Nathan Frankowski and screenplay by Kate King Lynch.
To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) is an American non-profit organization which aims to present hope for people struggling with addiction, depression, self injury, and thoughts of suicide while also investing directly into treatment and recovery. Based in Melbourne, Florida, TWLOHA seeks to connect people to treatment centers, websites, books, support groups, and other resources.
TWLOHA also encourages people to have honest conversations about these issues, to live in community. A large portion of the work is dedicated to bridging the gap between traditional treatment (i.e. rehab, counseling, helplines) and the lives of people who need help. Examples of this include music festivals and tours, social networking sites, and schools and universities. Wanting to support existing professional help organizations rather than replace them, TWLOHA also sends a portion of donations directly to such causes as Hopeline, InTheRooms.com, S.A.F.E. Alternatives, Minding Your Mind, and (in Australia) Kids Help Line.
The group's main exposure comes from musicians and bands who wear the organization's distinctive T-shirts in photographs and performances; however, it has recently gained more public exposure through merchandise and public community websites such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and Tumblr. Professional soccer players Abby Wambach and Alex Morgan are often seen wearing TWLOHA shirts, along with several bands being huge supporters including Switchfoot, Anberlin and Paramore. TWLOHA has had a booth at every stop at Vans Warped Tour for the past five years along with several other festivals and events around the globe.
