It looks like there is someone richer than the Carters and that someone is Markus Persson. The 35-year old Swedish video game programmer responsible for bringing to the world, Minecraft, reportedly bought the much eyed Beverly Hills house the mega couple were planning to buy, for $70 million in cold hard cash in just six days.
Beyonce and Jay Z were reported to have visited the house multiple times according to TMZ and had made an offer but were beaten by the game maker, who paid on the spot.
The residential house that sits at 1181 North Hillcrest, on top of the Trousdale Estates, is 23,000 square feet and includes a lavish interior of eight bedrooms, 15 bathrooms (with toilets that have been reported to have cost around $5,600 each), 16-car capacity garage, a large infinity pool, movie theater and a backyard that boasted a wonderful 360 degree panoramic view of Los Angeles and Malibu Beach. It also had a candy room and vodka and tequila bars. It is also fully furnished with expensive furniture and artworks and can be controlled with just a tap of one's iPad. The property also comes with a replica of James Dean's motorcycle and an 18-foot onyx dining table perfect for 24 people. If that's not all, it is also reported that the property also comes with cases of Dom Perignon and two dozen Roberto Cavalli place settings which costs at $3,700 each.
Originally the house was in the market for an asking price of $85 million and the Minecraft maker's price is the highest ever paid for a Beverly Hills home.
The 35-year-old Game BAFTA awardee can afford the property since he had recently sold his gaming company, Mojang to Microsoft for $2.5 billion. Who said nerds can't get rich?
