"But by the end of the shoot I was about seven months [pregnant] and hiding behind every tree in the woods," Emily Blunt tells Jennifer Dickinson for her interview which will see print in the December issue of Net-A-Porter's magazine The Edit.
While the Devil likes to wear Prada, Into the Wood's Baker's Wife will be seen wearing designs by Tibi, Temperley London, MM6 Maison Martin Margiela, Marni, Adam Lippes, Erdem, Hervé Léger, Lanvin, Tome, The Row and Missoni in the pages and cover of the luxury fashion magazine.
About being cast for the role of the Baker's Wife in Rob Marshall's film adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name, Blunt said: "I found out I had [the role] the same week I found out I was having a baby. I waited 10 weeks, because the first trimester is so iffy and I just wanted to make sure the baby was okay before it became public." The 31-year-old actress added: "In a way, the part was the only one in Hollywood I could still have done, because it didn't matter if I was a bit big - the baker's wife eats a lot of buns!"
Blunt who is married to 35-year-old actor, director, screenwriter John Krasinski gave birth February 16 to her first child, a daughter they named Hazel. On the pressures of being a new mother, she told editor-in-chief Dickinson: "[Raising a baby now] is such a fear-based industry. There used to be one book that everyone read, now there's How to Raise a Gluten-free Baby, How to Raise a Scientific Baby... It's insanity! So I haven't read anything, I'm just letting her [Hazel] do her own thing."
On how she managed to loss weight so fast after having just given birth, US Weekly said she revealed the secret on The Ellen Degeneres Show in May. Reportedly, she said: "I found breastfeeding to be the thing. My boobs also thought I had 12 children. I found that because I managed to produce a lot of milk, I don't know why, it helped me lose the weight."
Into the Woods which will be shown in theaters beginning Christmas Day marked the second time Blunt got to do scenes once more with the legendary Meryl Streep, her co-star in 2006's hit The Devil Wears Prada, who famously complemented her then as "the best young actress I've worked with in some time - perhaps ever." About being praised by probably the best actress of all times, Blunt in her interview said: "I still die (over what Streep told the press about her). It was a little bit mind-blowing. I think my hair blew back, actually, when I read it. You do a little dance and then you realise you've got to try and live up to it!"
