Coldplay was on hand to perform at the BBC Music Awards recently and a singer, Chris Martin, shared a live video on social media. You can check out the performance of their hit song "A Sky Full Of Stars" above.
"Watch the band's show-opening performance of 'A Sky Full Of Stars' at tonight's #BBCMusicAwards," the band's Twitter posted along with the video.
Their song "A Sky Full Of Stars" is from their latest album Ghost Stories. It has become the world-famous pop/rock band's the fastest selling album of 2014. The album was named as the band's sixth consecutive Number One album by the Official Charts Company, after selling 168,000 copies since its release last Monday (May 19). Altogether, the band have sold 11.1 million albums in the UK since the release of their debut, 2000's 'Parachutes'. Earlier, the band's frontman Chris Martin joined Kings Of Leon onstage at Radio 1's One Big Weekend in Glasgow, to play 'Fans' from the band's 2007 album 'Because of the Times'.
Coldplay released their live concert DVD Ghost Stories Live 2014 on November 24. It documents the band's unique performance of the Ghost Stories album to a small handful of fans in March 2014, two months prior to the album's release. Shot in a custom-built amphitheatre at Sony Studios, Los Angeles, the ground-breaking production sets the band's performance against stunning 360-degree and overhead imagery.
The band is currently working on their seventh studio album titled A Head Full of Dreams and this could be their final record together, for now at least.
Singer, Chris Martin, recently spoke with BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe about the future of the band. "It's our seventh thing, and the way we look at it, it's like the last Harry Potter book or something like that," Chris shared (via Consequence of Sound).
The 37-year-old added, "Not to say that there might not be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something. I have to think of it as the final thing we're doing. Otherwise we wouldn't put everything into it."
Coldplay formed in 1996 and became known worldwide with their hit single "Yellow" in 2000. Their debut album Parachutes including the hit single won the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.
