Stand-up comedian, actress and writer Amy Schumer will be hosting the annual MTV Movie Awards come April 12, 2015.
The awards show will be held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles and will start at 9PM ET.
The popular Comedy Central show Inside Amy Schumer is where Schumer shares her comedic chops and had been renewed for a third season.
On Dec 10, Wednesday, the 33-year-old comedian took over the social media accounts of MTV, like Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Tumblr, and Instagram. This takeover marks the first time MTV handed out its social media account to a person.
The Emmy award winner comedian will produce a new Comedy Central pilot that will star her fellow comedian Rachel Feinstein. The new show will "explore and skewer gender, class, and stereotypical issues in sketch and character-driven pieces," according to US weekly.
This hosting announcement came days after Schumer announces the new Comedy Central show.
The New York born comedian placed fourth on the fifth season of NBC's Last Comic Standing, and she placed second on Comedy Central's Reality Bites Back. In 2012, she held a recurring role on the Adult Swim series Delocated.
Schumer will next be seen in the upcoming comedy film, Trainwreck, which marks her debut starring role. She also had written the film along with Judd Apatow, where he serves as the director as well. The film stars Schumer along with an ensemble cast that includes Tilda Swinton, Bill Hader, Brie Larson, Colin Quinn, Barkhad Abdi, Mike Birbiglia, Jon Glaser, Vanessa Bayer, John Cena, Ezra Miller, LeBron James, Method Man, and Norman Lloyd.
Principal photography began on May 19, 2014 in New York City. The film is scheduled to be released on July 24, 2015, by Universal Pictures.
