The upcoming musical comedy-drama film, The Last 5 Years, starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan has released a new trailer. In the trailer, which you can watch above, you get to hear plenty of Kendrick's vocal ability.
The Tony- and Oscar-nominated actress is all about the musical movies this year as she stars in the movie adaptation of The Last 5 Years, opposite Smash and Broadway star Jeremy Jordan.
Synopsis: THE LAST FIVE YEARS by Tony award winning composer/lyricist Jason Robert Brown is a musical deconstruction of a love affair and a marriage taking place over a five year period. Jamie Wellerstein is a young, talented up and coming novelist who falls in love with Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress. Their story is told almost entirely through songs using an intercutting time line device; all of Cathy's songs begin at the end of their marriage and move backwards in time to the beginning of their love affair while Jamie's songs start at the beginning of their affair and move forward to the end of their marriage. Its beautiful pop music score portrays an honest, heartbreaking, often funny, exploration of love and it's consequences on individual identity.
The film is written and directed by Richard LaGravenese It premiered on September 7, 2014 in the Special Presentations section of the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival. The show was originally written by Jason Robert Brown and played off-Broadway in 2002, slowly developing a strong following.
Betsy Wolfe, who played Cathy in the 2013 Off-Broadway revival, will play the former stripper that Cathy rooms with in Ohio. Brown himself will play one of the accompanists during Cathy's auditions in "Climbing Uphill". Sherie Rene Scott, who originated the role of Cathy in the Off-Broadway production, will also appear in one of the audition scenes with her husband Kurt Deutsch.
The Last 5 Years is set to released to theaters Feb. 13, 2015, just in time for Valentine's Day.
