To those loyal Swifties (Taylor Swift fans) out there, perhaps you've heard the name Scott Borcheta? He's the President and CEO of the Big Machine Label group, home of the country's biggest names such as Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, Reba McEntire, Florida Georgia Line, Brantley Gilbert, Tim McGraw and Taylor herself.
Turns out, Borchetta, 52, is slated to be announced, according a post from Us Weekly, as the new mentor of the upcoming 14th season of the long-running reality competition series, American Idol. Perhaps seeking for the next Taylor Swift?
Borchetta will fill the seat left by Randy Jackson and Jimmy Lovine and will join the people who had launched the careers of today's biggest names in music, such as previous winners Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson.
Borchetta had been one of those who discovered Swift at the age of 14 while starting to create history with his record label Big Machine. And after a decade, it became the home of megastar artists and country music's biggest acts.
Apparently, Borchetta has a great eye, not just in developing emerging talents but also in reviving careers that have been in the industry for years.
Borchetta is expected to join the musical veterans of the show as well as the judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban.
Recently, Swift has pulled out her music in the streaming service Spotify and Borchetta is quick to defend her in an interview with Time Magazine saying, "The facts show that the music industry was much better off before Spotify hit these shores. Don't forget this is the most successful artist in music today. What about the rest of the artists out there, struggling to make a career?"
American Idol Season 14 returns on Fox, January 7.
