"The Newsroom" Season 3 premiered on November 9th on HBO and star Jeff Daniels opened up about the popular series ending after these final episodes.
"It's my first television series, and while we could have gone more seasons, three felt right. It felt like we told the story, and we didn't have to suffer through what every TV series does if it goes on too long," 59-year-old actor told Zap2It.com. "When is too long? When is one too many seasons? When have you told all the stories you can tell, and Season 6 wasn't as good as Season 4 or Season 5?"
He continued, "While it would have been great to go on, we don't have to deal with that. We've put what we hope are three really strong seasons together and walked away. It feels like more a long movie shoot for me, or closing a Broadway play."
"The Newsroom" was created by Aaron Sorkin and stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, John Gallagher Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel, Olivia Munn and Sam Waterston.
Series overview: The series is set behind the scenes at the fictional Atlantis Cable News (ACN) and centers around anchor Will McAvoy (Jeff Daniels), who, together with his staff, sets out to put on a news show "in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles and their own personal entanglements". On the show his executive producer is MacKenzie McHale (Emily Mortimer), newsroom staff Jim Harper (John Gallagher, Jr.), Maggie Jordan (Alison Pill), Sloan Sabbith (Olivia Munn), Neal Sampat (Dev Patel), Don Keefer (Thomas Sadoski) and the head of Atlantis Cable News (ACN), Charlie Skinner (Sam Waterston).
HBO just wrapped up the popular series "True Blood" on Sunday night and is hoping that "The Newsroom" will have a strong final season. "The Newsroom" third and final season only is releasing six episodes, down from 10 and 9 episodes in previous seasons.
The next episode of "The Newsroom" airs Nov. 30. The season finale, titled "What Kind Of Day Has It Been," airs Dec. 14 on HBO.
