On Monday, Drumline: A New Beat, or Drumline 2, premiered on VH1. On Twitter, the sequel to the 2002 film, which starred Nick Cannon, Zoe Saldana and Orlando Jones, was blasted by viewers.
"Dear @VH1 and makers of #Drumline2: please don't mistake our watching this as us wanting a #Drumline3. We were bored and wanted family time," one man wrote, according to an Oct. 29 report by the Latin Post. Another said, "Bet they filmed #drumline2 with the iPhone 6 bruh."

Drumline: A New Beat starred Alexandra Shipp as Danielle “Dani” Raymond, an ambitious Brooklyn girl who traveled to A&T in hopes of becoming the school's first female drum leader. Other stars of the film included Jordan Calloway, Jasmine Burke, Scott Shilstone, LeToya Luckett and Rome Flynn. Cannon was also seen in the film, although his appearance was brief.
"Like 'Sharknado' before it, 'Drumline 2' has become a social media sensation, but wherease the Syfy original movie embraced its campiness, one gets the impression that the creative team behind 'Drumline: A New Beat' was hoping to make a movie that people actually enjoyed," The Wrap reported on October 27.
The hash tag "#Drumline2" was trending during the film's premiere, and continued to trend long after the film ended. Unfortunately, there weren't many positive tweets shared.
The original Drumline grossed over $56 million at the box office.
