Teresa Giudice may not get her wish of serving her 15-month sentence in a half-way house.
Teresa Giudice Will Write A Tell-All Book During 15-Month Prison Term
Following her Oct. 2 sentencing, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star filed a motion, requesting the judge allow her to serve her time at a half-way house instead of a prison. Unfortunately, the prosecution doesn't feel Giudice will learn her lesson unless she goes to prison.
“The government opposes this request,” the prosecution wrote in a letter, according to an Oct. 21 report by Radar Online. “Defendant is requesting a substantive change to her sentence. If the defendant serves the ‘maximum’ amount of time … in a halfway house, that will mean that she serves 12 months in the halfway house and at most, only three months in prison, and likely less, given the availability of good time credits, and defendant’s eligibility, by statute, to serve part of her sentence on home confinement.”
Teresa Giudice Dropped By Crisis Manager
On Monday, Us Weekly reported Giudice had entered her request to serve her 15 months at Danbury Federal Prison in Connecticut, the prison which inspired Netflix's Orange Is the New Black. The site also noted that because of Giudice's filing, her crisis manager, Wendy Feldman, had quit.
"By making this request, Teresa has jeopardized months of work, months of preparation and in fact may jeopardize where she is ultimately designated or sent to," Feldman told the magazine of her decision to step down.
Prosecutors told the court they would not agree to Giudice's request, especially considering it was never discussed at her recent sentencing. They did, however, recommend Giudice serve time at a camp facility, as opposed to an administrative facility.
