Amanda Bynes Hospitalized, Put On Involuntary Psychiatric Hold
On Friday, Bynes flew to Los Angeles from New York City, where she expected to meet with her parents, her lawyer and Sam Lutfi at The London Hotel in West Hollywood, Calif. However, when she arrived to LAX, Bynes was instead transported to a local hospital, where she was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold.
"Amanda feels utterly betrayed and says her relationship with her parents is 'destroyed forever,'" TMZ reported on Oct. 14. "Although she's had a poor relationship with her dad, she had warm feelings for her mom ... until Friday."
Amanda Bynes Announces Engagement To 19-Year-Old Actor
Following a DUI arrest in Los Angeles, Bynes flew to New York City, where she was seen riding a bike through a crowd of people and debuting her engagement ring. In the days that followed, Bynes was seen out and about, spending time with a questionable character who referred to himself as "The Prince Of Hell," and reportedly shoplifting on two separate occassions.
TMZ's sources explained that Bynes was planning to sue her parents for abuse, and planning to do so with the help of Lutfi, who once worked with Britney Spears. What Bynes didn't know was Lutfi was working with her parents to get her the help she needed.
Once Bynes' psychiatric hold expired on Monday, doctors extended the hold for 14 days. Her parents hope to regain their conservatorship during this time.
"Amanda is in the women's lockdown section of the facility ... where she is showing fits of anger," TMZ said of Bynes' care. "Doctors are medicating her, but it takes time for the meds to kick in."
