Teresa Giudice Discusses "Unexpected" Prison Sentence On 'WWHL'

Following his fraud sentencing last Thursday, the Real Housewives of New Jersey husband is facing a possible deportation.

“Joe signed an agreement with prosecutors in March that says he understands that his guilty plea ‘may result in his being subject to immigration proceedings and removed from the United States,’” North Jersey reported, according to an Oct. 7 report by Reality Tea.

After being sentenced to 41 months behind bars, word hit the web, claiming Joe would likely be deported to Italy after his wife, Teresa, completed her 15-month sentence. At their sentencing, the judge stated Teresa would serve her sentence first, allowing Joe to be home with the girls. Then, Joe would enter into prison for his sentence, and Teresa would return home.

Now, Joe's immigration attorney, Jerard Gonzalez, claims proceedings on Joe's possible deportation wouldn't begin until his sentence was complete.

A third source, an expert connected to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) said officials could start proceedings at any time.

“They could come pick him up tomorrow. I doubt they would do that,” said immigration attorney Edward Shulma, who is not involved in Joe’s case. “They want them to do most of the time.”

Following their trial, Teresa and Joe filmed a special episode of Watch What Happens Live, where they discussed their sentencing, as well as the Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion special, which will air later this fall.
