On Thursday, Johnson confirmed, via Instagram, that he has been tapped to star in a new Baywatch movie.
"'This is my beach b**ch!' Rumors are true... We're making #BAYWATCH the movie. Edgy, raunchy and hopefully, funny as all hell. Cue slo mo running on the beach... #WhoNeedsMouthToMouth #RedShortsBeHugginABrotha," he captioned the photo, according to an Oct. 3 report by E! News.

This movie news comes just in time for Baywatch's 25th anniversary, which was celebrated on Sept. 22. The show, starring Hasselhoff and Anderson, among others, aired for 11 seasons and remains a television classic.
There is no word yet whether or not any of the original stars will reprise their roles, but the movie has picked up some heavy behind-the-scenes players.
Paramount Pictures hired Justin Malen to rewrite the script, which Jeremy Garelick and Peter Tolan originally wrote. Sean Anders and John Morris, who co-wrote We're The Millers, are set to direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Entertainment Tonight recently spoke to some of the former cast members, who shared behind the scenes scoop. One thing they all mentioned was the clause in their contract forbidding actresses to gain or lose any weight.
"If you did anything to gain or lose weight... you were in trouble," said Traci Bingham, who was on the show from 1996 to 1998.
"[There] was a five pound fluctuation you couldn't go up or down," added Nicole Eggert.
