Jenelle Evans Explains Why She Hasn't Regained Custody Of Jace

In a sneak peek at the upcoming episode of Teen Mom 2, Jenelle and Barbara are seen discussing Jace's younger years, when Jenelle was deemed unfit, and Barbara was forced to become his main caretaker.

“I did not [want] to take custody of Jace,” Barbara tells Jenelle in the Sept. 29 preview, via MTV. “It was your decision — not mine.”

Since Jenelle's episode of 16 & Pregnant aired years ago, fans have wondered why she didn't have custody of her son. Some reports claimed it was Jenelle's decision to sign custody over to her mom. Others alleged she had no choice in the matter.

Now, from the sound of things, it appears fans won't be getting their answer anytime soon. In the clip, Barbara said Jenelle chose to sign over custody. Jenelle, however, insisted she couldn't have kept Jace under her care -- even if she wanted to.

“I was forced to sign custody over,” Jenelle argued.

Once Jace was no longer in her custody, Jenelle admitted to a downward spiral.

“I did drugs because I didn’t have my son back. Because I was giving up,” she explained.

These days, Jenelle is drug-free and living in South Carolina with her boyfriend, Nathan Griffith, and their three-month-old son, Kaiser. And although she still doesn't have custody of her son, she sees Jace every weekend.

Teen Mom 2 airs on Wednesday night at 10 p.m. on MTV.
