Diem Brown can no longer have children of her own, but that's not stopping her from starting a family.
Diem Brown Is Battling Cancer For A Third Time
Following her third cancer diagnosis, Brown, who regularly stars on MTV's The Challenge, underwent a hysterectomy, which left her unable to conceive a child. However, Brown isn't giving up on her dreams of a family and recently revealed plans to use a surrogate.
"I fought for it so much, and I wasn't allowed to have it," Brown told People Magazine on Sept. 16 of her desire to become pregnant. "I would love to be pregnant; I would love to feel a life growing inside me, but I know that's not an option anymore."
Diem Brown Feels "Gutted" After Emergency Hysterectomy
While filming the latest season of The Challenge overseas, Brown collapsed and was rushed to a New York hospital, where she was diagnosed with colon cancer. In the days that followed, Brown's doctors discovered multiple tumors and opted to take her in for an emergency hysterectomy. Days later, Brown underwent a second surgery because of complications sustained during the first surgery.
At age 23, Brown was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and forced to have one of her ovaries and part of her fallopian tube removed. Years later, in 2012, the cancer returned.
Around this time, Brown decided to freeze her eggs in hopes of one day starting a family naturally. But after her third cancer diagnosis, that dream was lost.
Still, Brown is determined to one day become a mother and will do so with the help of a surrogate.
"My big goal in life is to prove people wrong," Brown said. "You think I'm out? Watch: I'm going to get healthy, and I'm going to have my family and my dream again."
Following her second cancer diagnosis, Brown opened up about her hair loss in a video diary for People Magazine.
