The Minnesota Vikings player released a statement yesterday, expressing deep sorrow for disciplining his son with questionable means, and claiming he has met with a psychologist for help.
"I want everyone to understand how sorry I feel about the hurt I have brought to my child," he said, according to a Sept. 15 report by TMZ.

His attorney asked him not to divulge into details, but still, Peterson remained insistent he never intended to harm his son.
"I have to live with the fact that when I disciplined my son the way I was disciplined as a child, I caused an injury that I never intended or thought would happen," he said.
Peterson said he met with a psychologist to learn there are other ways to discipline a child other than with a "switch."
"I am not a perfect son. I am not a perfect husband. I am not a perfect parent, but I am, without a doubt, not a child abuser," he explained.
Peterson was indicted on charges of child abuse, which occurred in May of this year. However, according to TMZ, Texas law states parents are allowed to administer "reasonable punishment."
The law saved Peterson from further prosecution when another case of alleged child abuse was brought forth on Sept. 15. In June of last year, another child of his came home with a scar on his forehead, which prompted the boy's mother to report the incident to Child Protective Services.
Sources close to the investigation told TMZ the case went nowhere because Peterson did not strike the boy, but rather he hit his head on a car seat while receiving punishment.
TMZ reported this form of discipline was "not impermissible" because of Texas laws.
Peterson's attorney further told TMZ an adult witness backed his case, saying Peterson "did nothing inappropriate with his son."
