Julianne Hough wants Dancing With The Stars fans to know that regardless of her ties to Derek Hough, she won't be playing favorites.
Julianne Hough Announce She Will Judge 'DWTS' Season 19
Hough was appointed as the fourth DWTS judge, which has some questioning her eligibility to stay totally unbiased. After all, her older brother Derek is a competitor this season.
"People are afraid about me judging my brother, but I'm going to be even harder on him," she told Access Hollywood, via Us Weekly on Sept. 13. "I think the thing that I hope the fans know, and of course the dancers know, is that we did grow up together, and every day we do have each other's backs. But with my new role, I do want to be able to say what I need to say."

Hough proved her judgment would remain neutral when asked what she would change about Derek's choreography.
"I always say he is [good at] the technical, intricate, really detailed stuff - but sometimes you need some show. Sometimes you need a little bit of pizzazz," she said.
Her brother isn't her only friend competing in this season's DWTS. The two-time champ acknowledged that she is close with many of the pros in the show, but she'll stay honest and earnest with her critiques as a judge.
Hough is bringing in a new era to her dancing career as a judge, and she is ok with the critiques she'll get from her new position.
"I know that I'm gonna get some fans, and I know I'm gonna get some haters. But haters gonna hate. Honestly, I'm just excited to be able to be somebody that's been on the other side," she said. "My role is very direct and honest, but it's always to see them improve. It's never just to say something rude."
Check out Hough, alongside Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli, at the judges table at this season's DWTS, premiering Monday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
