In a new Instagram post, Janay Palmer weighed in on the media's response to Rice's elevator assault video, defending the former Baltimore Ravens running back and blaming the media for causing her family pain.
"I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I'm mourning the death of my closest friend. But to have to accept the fact that it's reality is a nightmare in itself," Palmer wrote on Instagram, according to a Sept. 9 report by TMZ. "No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family."
On Monday, following the release of the second of two videos of Rice and Palmer's altercation, the Baltimore Ravens cut Rice from the team. A short time later, he was suspended indefinitely by the NFL.
According to Palmer, the media's coverage of her husband's assault has forced her and her family to relive a moment in their lives that they "regret every day." In addition, Palmer slammed the NFL their decision to suspending Rice, claiming he deserves to be a part of his team -- despite the devastating blow he dealt her with during the Feb. 15 incident, which took place at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City, N.J.
"To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his a** of for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific," she wrote.
Palmer also accused the media of trying to "hurt us" and "embarrass us."
