On July 29, 2013, Giudice and her husband were charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud, bank fraud, loan fraud and bankruptcy fraud in a 39-count indictment. In November of that same year, more charges were added. Then, in March 2014, the couple pleaded guilty and were given a June sentencing date. Months later, the Giudices sentencing was postponed until Sept. 23.
Later in the episode, the Giudice's daughter, Gia, 13, was seen breaking down over the possibility of her parents going to prison.
"I obviously know what's going on," she said. "I'm old enough to understand."
In response to her daughter's heartache, Giudice said, "I don't want to see her cry … I just want to love her and keep her safe. I wish I could take your pain."
She also said a prayer.
"We're going through rough times, and we're going to make it through," she said. "Please God I really need protection right now … Joe and I and the girls. Please protect our family. Amen."
Giudice is facing up to 27 months behind bars, while her husband faces 37 to 46 months in prison.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey airs on Sundays at 8 p.m. on Bravo.
