Simone Battle, a member of the girl group G.R.L. and a finalist on The X-Factor, was found dead on Saturday in her West Hollywood, California home. She was 25.
An official cause of death cannot be determined until the autopsy is performed later this weekend.
On Sept. 6, TMZ reported law enforcement officials suspected suicide, noting that Battle was allegedly found hanging on a rod in the closet of her bedroom.
The G.R.L. Twitter accounted posted a message in honor of their lost band member. "Words cannot express the depth of our loss. Simone's incredible talent was only surpassed by the size of her heart," it read.
Pitbull, who recently collaborated on a song with the group, also offered his condolences on Twitter, saying, "My heart and prayers go out to @GRLSimone, @grl and her family. RIP Dios la bendiga."
Pitbull and G.R.L.'s single, "Wild Wild Love," peaked at number 30 on Billboard's Hot 100 this year. The band is said to be a "reboot" of the Pussycat Dolls, and was formed last year by former band member Robin Antin. She said G.R.L. was going to be the "next generation" of the Pussycat Dolls, CNN reported.
Battle grew up in Los Angeles, studying music and songwriting at the University of Southern California before competing on The X-Factor, where she made it to the final 16. Battle said Whitney Houston "inspired my dream to be a singer," according to the group's official biography on the RCA Records website.
