Joan Rivers could have brain damage following a botched throat surgery last week.
According to a new report, doctors will examine Rivers when she wakes up from the medically-induced coma she was placed under after she stopped breathing during a routine procedure on her vocal cords.
"Doctors began bringing Rivers out of a medically induced coma on Sunday and expect to be able to gauge her brain function Tuesday," the NY Daily News reported on Sept. 1.
On Thursday, Aug. 28, the 81-year-old went into cardiac and respiratory arrest at the Yorkville Endoscopy clinic. Immediately, she was rushed to an Upper East Side hospital, where she was placed into a coma.

Although Rivers' friends and family remain hopeful for the comedian's recovery, a source told the NY Daily News they can't help but be concerned that Rivers' motor skills "have been severely compromised" by the ordeal, and that she could be left in a "vegetative state" or be confined to a wheel chair.
Because of Rivers' hospitalization, production on Fashion Police has been put on hold.
Joan Rivers' Family Is Planning To Sue Over Botched Surgery
"Taping for Joan Rivers’ E! network show 'Fashion Police' — scheduled to take place in New York this week in conjunction with Fashion Week — has been canceled," a source confirmed to the site.
On Aug. 31, the NY Daily News reported that the Rivers family was planning to sue the Yorkville Endoscopy clinic over the allegedly "ill advised" surgery.
“The night before, she was performing and now she is on life support," a source told the site. "An 81-year-old should not have that procedure as an outpatient. Very ill advised.”
