Is that Rosie The Riveter? Well, sort of! Beyoncé posted a photo of herself dressed up as the icon of female empowerment on Instagram yesterday. Rosie is also associated with the feminist movement, but Beyoncé is careful with how she uses the "F" word.
"That word can be very extreme. But I guess I am a modern-day feminist," Beyoncé shared with Vogue UK in the April issue last year.
Rosie the Riveter represented the six million women that became a part of the workforce during World War II. The idea of Rosie evolved from a hit song then a painting, but the popular image was actually created by the Westinghouse Power Company to increase morale, reports History.com.
There's been recent speculation on the status of Beyoncé's marriage during her "On the Run" tour, with headlines like: "Beyoncé and Jay-Z Divorce Rumor Has Everyone Freaking Out" running in yesterday's Huffington Post.
Regardless of the hearsay, Beyoncé looks gorgeous representing the symbol of strength as she continues her worldwide tour.
Within a half an hour of Beyoncé's Rosie post, the snapshot received more than 300,000 likes according to Time.
Fans may be reading into Beyoncé's motivation for the photo but she isn't the only Destiny's Child alum to work the look, Kelly Rowland shared her version of Rosie on Instagram in 2010, reports Cosmopolitan UK. Who is your favorite Rosie?
