Karina Smirnoff is reportedly planning for a family.
Although the Dancing With The Stars pro is currently single, that isn't stopping her from looking for her future and taking the necessary steps to ensure a future pregnancy.
“Karina Smirnoff has frozen her eggs and is considering going the route of a sperm donor,” a source close to Smirnoff told Radar Online. “She hasn’t been too successful in dating and desperately wants a baby, so she’s been working with a fertility doctor since last fall to discuss her options.”
Since signing on to do Dancing With The Stars during the show's third season, Smirnoff has had a few high-profile relationships. In 2006, Smirnoff began dating Mario Lopez, after being paired up for the ABC series. After two years together, the couple went their separate ways, and Smirnoff began dating fellow professional dancer, Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Just months into their relationship, Smirnoff and Chmerkovskiy became engaged and planned to get married in July 10, before splitting in Sept. 2009. Smirnoff was also briefly engaged to baseball player Brad Penny. They broke up in Dec. 2011.
In the last couple of years since her breakup from Penny, Smirnoff hasn't had any serious relationships, and while she hasn't given up on finding love, she's reportedly come to the realization that she may have to become a mother on her own.
“She wants at least two children. She knows she’s not getting any younger and she wants to make sure she doesn’t miss her chance,” the source told Radar. “She’s said if she doesn’t feel it’s the right fit with anyone by the time she’s 39, she’ll go ahead and do it on her own. She wants to have her first child when she turns 40.”
