Serinda Swan is dishing on the upcoming season of Graceland.
In a new interview with Celebeat, Swan opened up about what fans can expect to see on the second installment of the USA series and revealed why she is so good at doing her own stunts.
"The second season of Graceland is going to be similar the first. We are a little bit darker when it comes to our audience, but I know they love it and I know they are ready for it," Swan told Celebeat at the NBC Upfront in New York City. "It’s got a little more grit to it so we are following down that path a lot more."
Graceland, a series created by Jeff Eastin, who also created USA's White Collar, is a police drama, following a group of undercover agents from various law enforcement agencies, including the DEA, the FBI, and the ICE. On the series, the agents, including Swan's character, Paige Arkin, live together in a Southern California beach house known as "Graceland."
In Sept. 2013, just two days before the season one finale, it was announced that the show would return for a second season the following year.
On the upcoming season, fans will be getting to see more love interests in the house, as well as more of the dynamic between the agents.
"There’s going to be some big action for sure this year. There’s planes, trains, buses, there’s people jumping out of windows, there’s big fights, it’s crazy this season," Swan said. “[Paige] gets to kick some a**. You get to see her skill set."
Although many of today's actors and actresses chose to sit out when it comes to stunt work, Swan is very much involved and loves doing her own stunts. Because she was a gymnast growing up, her coordination is there, allowing her to run, jump, tackle and more. She does it all. In fact, Swan prides herself on doing her own stunts and wouldn't have it any other way.
Also on season two, fans will be exposed to the devastation of human trafficking.
"There really is a light that needs to be shown on it because of what’s going on in the world right now," Swan told us. "In Nigeria, it’s really prevalent and I think it’s very important that we bring awareness to these issues through entertainment as well."
In addition to shedding a light on the issue on Graceland, Swan is also doing her part off-screen. As a supporter of the Somaly Mam Foundation, Swan recently participated in a skydive for the charity, which is a nonprofit organization focused on combating the global sex slave trade through rescues, rehabilitation, and awareness.
Graceland season two premieres on the USA Network on June 11.
