Courtney Love Tried To Save Peached Geldof: Love Attempted To "Help And Mentor" The Socialite Prior To Her Death

Courtney Love reportedly tried to "help and mentor" Peaches Geldof prior to her death.

Years before Geldof died of an apparent heroin overdose, Love attempted to guide her down a healthier, drug-free path, but unfortunately, she was unsuccessful, and in a new interview, is opening up about one specific run-in they had in which she tried to encourage Geldof to get out of the drug world.

“Peaches was in a room with a friend who had a bag full of these drugs, like 500 pills and I wanted it so badly. I had to physically push Peaches and her friend out of the door,” Love revealed to Grazia Magazine of an incident at Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont, according to In Touch Weekly. "I was shaking and I kept thinking of the way her mother died and I thought I owe it to this girl to be an example."

Despite Love's efforts, Geldof continued to struggle with drug use for years, and although she had settled into family life with husband Thomas Cohen and their two sons, Astala and Phaedra, her demons eventually caught up with her and, sadly, took her life.

In an eerie turn of events, the situation nearly duplicated that of Geldof's own mother, Paula Yates. On Sept. 17, 2000, the 10th birthday of Geldof's sister, Pixie, Yates was found dead of a heroin overdose with her young daughter, Tiger Lily, 4, playing nearby. When Geldof's body was discovered, her young son, Astala, 11 months, was also playing nearby. 

"You just can't believe it happened, it's so f**king tragic. This girl was vivacious, so full of life and it was weird and horrible that she has passed away,” she added.
