The Bachelorette's Andi Dorfman has opened up about the devastating death of her former suitor, Eric Hill.
After filming the 10th season of The Bachelorette, Hill was involved in a tragic paragliding accident, which ultimately took his life, and now, with the premiere date just days away, Dorfman is speaking out for the first time about the passing.
"When I heard the news, I was devastated," Dorfman revealed during an interview with PEOPLE Magazine. "I had just seen him. He was a member of our cast and we had an inherent bond. The [other contestants] shared that bond too. It was shocking and devastating to all of us and it's still a tough thing that we're going through."
On Sun., April 20, Hill suffered a major fall after his parachute collapsed, leaving him stranded on the side of a mountain. After rescue crews were able to get to Hill and transport him to a nearby hospital, Hill was said to be in a coma, and three days later, on Wed., April 23, family members announced that he had died.
"I will always remember Eric's love for life," Dorfman continued. "His sense of adventure inspired not only me, but every guy in the house, every producer, every crew member."
Earlier this month, producers were unsure of how to move forward with the scenes Hill had filmed for The Bachelorette, but according to PEOPLE Magazine's report, producers ultimately decided to include Hill, and all that he had shot, on season ten.
The Bachelorette premieres on Mon., May 19, at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.
