Porsha Williams has responded to a recently surfaced video, in which she was seen making anti-gay statements.
On Monday, following Sunday's conclusion to The Real Housewives of Atlanta's season six reunion, a video hit the web which featured Williams ranting about how gays and lesbians were destined for an eternity in hell. Now, the newly divorced reality star is speaking out.
"God loves all of his children," Williams said in a video message released to PEOPLE Magazine on Tues., May 6. "The sermon was shown not in its entirety, therefore the message was omitted. I apologize that those words hurt the LGBT community, my fans and my supporters. Life is a journey and I'm growing every day."
According to TMZ, the video posted was shot around three years ago at the High Praise Christian Center Ministries in Georgia and included Williams grouping gays and lesbians with hookers and drug dealers, stating that they all needed to be saved.
The video has resulted in Williams receiving tons of backlash, some of which has been from her own co-stars. On Tuesday, Cynthia Bailey and Lawrence Washington both spoke to TMZ, slamming Williams for her shocking comments.
Bailey told TMZ that Williams was "ignorant and insensitive" for her comments about gays and lesbians, and Washington slammed Williams for using the gay community for convenience.
For her part, Williams insisted to PEOPLE Magazine that her message was omitted from TMZ's original video, and claimed that she believes everyone to be "worthy of God’s love.” She also said that she encourages everyone to love each other unconditionally.
