Peaches Geldof's death may have been the result of a dangerous diet.
In the months leading up to her shocking death at just 25 years of age, Geldof was said to have been "worringly skinny," and in a 2011 interview with OK! Magazine, Geldof admitted to having unhealthy eating habits, which experts say could have led to cardiac arrest.
“I do juicing,” she told OK! “You juice vegetables and then you drink it three times a day. It’s gross. I do it usually for about a month. I have no willpower, but with the juicing, I”m like, ‘I have to do it because I have to lose this extra ten pounds.’”
At the time of Geldof's OK! interview, a spokeswoman for the British Dietetic Association said, "Surviving on fruit is a very dangerous diet. Peaches is at a high risk of electrolyte abnormalities, which could lead to cardiac arrest. Rapid dieting like this not only makes you lose muscle strength, but wastes away your internal organs. ... It's worrying that somebody who has money and access to contacts would pick such a ridiculous way to diet."
Geldof was found dead at her home in Kent, England on Monday afternoon, but thus far, no cause of death has been determined. Authorities don't suspect foul play and no drugs or suicide note was found.
The death has been referred to as "unexplained and sudden."
In another interview, Geldof revealed she would often "wake up and think, ‘I’m so fat,’” after seeing models' stick-thin frames in fashion magazines.
Although Geldof's diet was a cause for concern, it is unknown whether or not she was dieting at the time of her death. Still, Geldof appeared to be very thin during a handful of 2014 appearances -- especially when compared with photos from years prior.
In Feb. 2014, Geldof posted a photo of herself, showing off her tiny waist and arms, and immediately received harsh criticism from bloggers who called her "super skinny," "scary," and expressed concern for her health.
Just last month, Geldof spoke with Mommy & Baby about how becoming a mother turned her from party girl to responsibly parent. It was her final interview.
"Becoming a mother was like becoming me, finally," Geldof said of her two sons. "I felt finally anchored in place, with lives that literally depend on me, and I am not about to let them down, not for anyone or anything."
