Drake Bell is thrilled to hear that his former Nickelodeon co-star Amanda Bynes is back on track.
During Saturday night's 27th Annual Kids' Choice Awards, Bell spoke out about Bynes, confirming that he has spoken to her post-rehab.
“I’m really happy to see that she’s doing well,” Bell told In Touch Weekly during Saturday night's Kids' Choice Awards. “She’s a great friend of mine and I’m a huge fan of her.”
Bell and Bynes worked together from 1999 to 2002 on Bynes' The Amanda Show. From there, the pair were rumored to be dating, but that was never confirmed.
Last year, Bynes herself seemingly stirred up the rumors once again, when she tweeted, “I f**ked @DrakeBell so many times on the Amanda show set oh god.” Although the tweet came from her Twitter account, Bynes later denied ever writing it.
“I didn’t tweet this, that’s what happened when I called @drake ugly, I didn’t write that!” she explained.
Meanwhile, Bell has always spoken highly of Bynes, and told OK! Magazine in June 2013 that she was "like a sister" to him. At the time, he also claimed to be in touch with Bynes, who was going through a hard time in her life (which eventually led to her being placed on a 5150 hold and taken to a mental treatment facility).
"She needs to get out of retirement, and make us laugh again, because that's what she's brilliant at," Bell said. "Amanda Bynes is brilliant at making us laugh, and that's what she needs to do. She's great at it."
