Celine Dion's husband René Angélil is recovering at his home in Las Vegas after undergoing major throat surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.
Angélil had throat surgery on Dec. 23, 15 years after his initial throat cancer diagnosis, where doctors successfully removed a tumor, Radar Online reported on March 3.
Following his original diagnosis, Dion quit the business to take care of Angélil. This time around, she's committed to her three-year residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
"I don't want René to stress out with work-related issues," Dion said in a statement in regard to her husband's recent surgery. "I want him to focus on getting back to 100 percent. I've been doing my shows ... and everything's under control. At home we've been spending a lot of quality time with the family."
Dion, 45, and Angélil, 72, have been married since 1994 and have three children together, René-Charles, 13, and twins Eddy and Nelson, 4.
Dion added, "We feel very fortunate that we've been able to get the best care possible and we thank God every day for helping us get through this ordeal."
Even before Angélil's recent battle with cancer, Dion scheduled her performance dates and times around her kids' school calendar and vowed to make parenting a top priority.
After signing on for the gig in Feb. 2010, Dion told PEOPLE Magazine, "I'll balance my showbiz life with my most important job: motherhood."
