Christina Aguilera and her fiance Matthew Rutler are expecting a baby later this year, and in a new report, a source close to the couple is revealing new details about the unexpected pregnancy, as well as their Valentine's Day engagement.
"[The pregnancy] wasn't expected, but it also wasn't unwelcome," a source revealed to Us Weekly on Feb. 12. "They are all very excited though! Christina loves being a mom."
"They just want a healthy baby," the source added.
In regard to the expectant couple's engagement news, a second source claimed Rutler had been "working on the ring for over a year," and was planning his proposal for several months. "He wanted to do something that had meaning for both of them."
"It was after sunset when everything is quiet and dark and it's turning into night," the friend reveals. After showing Aguilera a new Charry Blossom tree planted at their Los Angeles home, which is currently under construction, Rutler, dressed is a suit and in tears, asked for Aguilera's hand in marriage in their gazebo amid lit candles and hundreds of roses.
After she accepted the proposal and ring, the couple went to the home where they are living as their new home is built. Upon arrival, Aguilera was surprised with a party by her close friends and family who were enlisted to surprise her by her new fiance.
"It was a great night," the source said.
This will be the second child and second marriage for Aguilera, who first married Jordan Bratman, the father of her six-year-old son Max, on Nov. 19, 2005. They parted ways five years later.
