David Crosby underwent heart surgery last week to fix a blocked coronary artery, and although he is expected to make a full recovery, he has postponed several dates on his tour.
PEOPLE Magazine reported on Feb. 18 that the 72-year-old had a cardiac catheterization and would be moving his February solo tour dates in San Francisco and West Hollywood to April. Crosby was scheduled to perform at Los Angeles' Troubadour on Feb. 23-25, as well as Feb. 27 and Feb. 28th.
Crosby said he will be ready to perform with Crosby, Stills and Nash on a tour that kicks off in Richmond, Va., on March 4. The CSN tour will take Crosby around the country for 13 tour dates in the month of March.
"The left anterior coronary artery was found to be 90% blocked, and two stents were placed to provide blood flow to his heart muscle," Crosby's publicist, Michael Jensen, said in a statement. "He did not have a heart attack, though it is certain that had he chosen to ignore his doctor's urgent recommendation, it would have led to one. "
"I am very glad that I listened to my doctors and my family," Crosby said of the surgery. "It seems I am once again a very lucky man. I'm sorry to have to move the dates, but I promise the music will be good when we do play them."
This isn't the first major surgery for Crosby. In 1994, he underwent a liver transplant -- which was paid for by Phil Collins. Crosby also suffers from Type 2 Diabetes.
