Channing Tatum is typically known for his muscular body and toned abs, but lately, he has been a bit hesitant when it comes time to flaunt them, and during a recent taping of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Tatum revealed why he has shied away from showing off his physique.
"Me and my wife like to say I am very fappy," Tatum revealed to DeGeneres. "I'm very fat and happy right now."
"Just for once, I've been working for two straight years, and now it's some really needed down time," Tatum explained.
Following the birth of his and wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum's first child, daughter Everly, Tatum chose to take some time off from making movies in order to focus solely on his growing family. In doing so, he also slacked off of his normal fitness routine, which resulted in weight gain.
However, a few extra pounds was worth all the additional time he got to spend with his daughter.
"She's eight months old now and saying 'da, da, da, da,' I don't think she knows what it means just yet, but it doesn't matter," he gushed. "She's sleeping now too…You know how you get that first thing of not feeling cool enough for your kid, because like you think you're the coolest thing in the world so far and she's just like a little baby, she just a little infant? But she actually has better taste in music than I think I do. Because she will only fall asleep to really good music."
Tatum also discussed his recent handing over of the title of Sexiest Man Alive to pop singer and The Voice judge, Adam Levine.
"I think the only thing that you pass on is the ability for your friends just to make complete fun of you for the rest of your life," he said. "Even my wife had a go at it. You know she called me SMA. She's like, 'SMA, can you get me a coffee or something?'"
In the upcoming year, Tatum will be getting back to acting, starring in three movies in 2014, including Jupiter Ascending, 22 Jump Street (the sequel to 2012's 21 Jump Street), and Book Of Life.
