Pascale Wellin, who stars in Bravo's new reality TV show 100 Days of Summer, spoke with Celebeat in an exclusive interview about her experience with reality television, her friendship with her co-stars and the possibility of a second season.
Wellin says that she shows viewers her real personality on the show.
"We all live a story every day, but when you're being filmed and that footage is brought to a cutting room, you risk being misrepresented. Fortunately for me, I really am who I am on the show. What you see is what you get," she said.
Bravo 100 Days of Summer premiered on January 7, 2014. It features a group of men and women in Chicago, living, working and dating -- and dealing with all of the drama in between. Read the Exclusive interview with Celebeat below:
How did you become a part of 100 Days Of Summer?
I grew up in Chicago, my entire life at the time was in that city and as such I had a large social network there. One of my acquaintances, Vince Anzalone, approached me about a show documenting young professionals in Chicago and it peeked my interest. We all knew one another to varying degrees, but Vince is the one who really brought us all together.
Were you hesitant to join a reality show?
Yes. And no. I've always been comfortable in the limelight, but I was nervous for my family and friends; I wanted to make sure they wouldn't be negatively affected by me being on the show. We all live a story everyday, but when you're being filmed and that footage is brought to a cutting room, you risk being misrepresented. Fortunately for me, I really am who I am on the show. What you see is what you get.
Were you a fan of any other Bravo reality series? If so, which ones?
I've always been a fan of the Real Housewives franchise. But Vanderpump Rules truly is my favorite. Let's be honest, it's better than any soap opera out there.
Which cast members did you know ahead of filming?
I knew of everyone through Vince, but it was Jay who I was most excited to meet. He has such an incredible work ethic, he's intelligent and real, he's a true talent, and most of all, he's just an all-around great guy.
How did your relationships with other cast members change throughout the show?
The first time Hamidah and I met things went south real fast. We were like two cats clawing away at one another, and our claws were sharp. It was uncomfortable. But we had lunch, we communicated like adults, we moved past it, and ended up becoming really great friends. The exact opposite happened with my friendships with Tara and Phillips. But like Jay says during the White Party episode, it's about quality, not quantity.
Did anyone's actions on the show surprise you?
Yes. I've never been around girls, let alone adult women, who would walk away from a friend who's been brought to tears by a situation at hand because they were "embarrassed" as Phillips said.
Are you and Vince still friends?
Vince and I are not as close as we once were. I'm happy that his relationship with Jessica is still going strong, she and I have made amends, were certainly not a part of one another's lives anymore, but I wish them nothing but the best.
Have you ever had romantic feelings about Vince?
No. I understand why women are attracted to him, but I've said it before and I'll say it again, he's been inside half my friends, and that's been a turn-off for me since day one.
Are you currently single?
Yes. And actively not dating in Los Angeles...Chicago boys hear me roar!
If you and Vince were both single, would a relationship be something you'd consider?
Absolutely not.
How is your current relationship with Ray's girlfriend?
Like I said, Hamidah and I are very close. Our friendship is one of the best things with which I came out of the show.
Are you still close to Tara and Phillips?
No. It's unfortunate that I've lost their friendship, but I moved on a while ago and as I said before, it's about quality, not quantity. And I've got some incredible quality in my life--I always have.
How is your jewelry line doing?
It's doing well. My mother and I have shifted focus to designing custom pieces now and that formula seems to work best with our working relationship.
Are you still living in Chicago?
Right now Los Angeles is my home base but Chicago will always be my home. And I know I'll be back again one day to stay.
Is there any word on a 100 Days Of Summer season 2?
Not yet. But time will tell!
If the show returns, will you be back?
Abso-fuckin'-lutely. Chi town my town.
How has your overall experience with reality TV been?
For me personally, it's been positive. It was a bit of an emotional roller coaster, but I was never anything but myself and that's something I can be proud of. It really is my reality out there on the screen.
Has your life changed in any way since the show?
My life has changed, but not because of the show.
