Laura Linney, 49, Welcomes Baby Boy

Actress Laura Linney has given birth to her first child at the age of 49. She and husband Marc Schauer welcomed baby boy Bennett Armistead Schauer, on Wednesday, Jan. 8, People magazine reported.

"Mother and baby are happy and healthy," Linney's representative's told the publication.

This is the first child for both Linney and Schauer, a real estate agent. The couple married in 2009. They met during the 2004 Telluride Film Festival.

The Big C actress kept her pregnancy a secret until the announcement of her baby boy's birth. She has not been seen in public with a baby bump. In fact, she was last seen in public seven months ago when she attended the Women in Film's 2013 Crystal + Lucy Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, according to E! News.

There was one clue about her pregnancy especially when she skipped the Emmy's last fall.  She won an Emmy for her role as a woman with cancer on The Big C. "She's such a great actress that she didn't even need to show up," Matt Damon joked as he presented and received the award for Linney's behalf.
