Lily Tomlin Marries Partner Jane Wagner After 42 years Together

Actress Lily Tomlin has married longtime partner and collaborator Jane Wager, Tomlin's publicist announced on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

After more than 40 years together, 74-year-old Tomlin married 78-year-old Wagner, in a private New Year's Eve ceremony, People reported.

"They're very happy," said Tomlin's rep, Jennifer Allen.

Columnist Liz Smith was the one who broke the news of the wedding, saying: ""And my longtime friends, Lily Tomlin and her love, the writer Jane Wagner, got married on the eve of 2014. My wish is that their happiness will be as great as their combined talents."

In an interview with E! News in August, Tomlin said that a person doesn't really need to get married but "marriage is awfully nice."

"Everybody I know who got married, they say it really makes a difference. They feel very, very happy about it."

In October, Tomlin revealed to E! News about a possible winter wedding. "We're talking about it," she said. "I think December, I'm off. I have no obligations at the moment."

Tomlin has appeared in Murphy Brown, Laugh-In and The West Wing.
