Farrah Abraham is currently involved in a bit of a scandal involving a man she once dated, or pretended to date, according to him.
In a new interview, Brian Dawe is speaking out, revealing that his alleged summer relationship with the former Teen Mom was actually a hoax created by Abraham in hopes at sealing the deal with VH1 for a gig on their fourth season of Couple's Therapy.
"I got myself in this situation because I was only thinking about the profit I would be making from doing this show," Dawe admitted in a new interview with Starcasm. "That was wrong. In the back of my head I realized I could not participate in a TV show that would further exploit Farrah, and where I would have to lie to be involved."
After first meeting during one of Abraham's promotional nightclub appearances where Dawe was DJing, Abraham reportedly asked Dawe to be in a "pretend relationship" with her so that she could star on a reality show.
"Farrah told me to lie to the network and tell them the relationship was real," Dawe claimed.
In attempt at making their relationship look legit, Abraham arranged a paparazzi photo shoot in Florida during which she and Dawe were seen going for a walk together and displaying some serious PDA, according to the report.
"I had no idea what these photos would be used for, but assumed it would be for her to promote or market our relationship," Brian explained. "She told me after the shoot that she sells the photos to various tabloids... I was astonished at the amount of media coverage it received."
Around the same time Abraham and Dawe's photos hit the web, her deal with VH1 was set in stone. However, her relationship was not and as he made his way to the airport to complete the final step in their stunt, Dawe realized that he simply couldn't go any further.
"I checked my bags and got into the airport security line. When I was in the at line it really hit me what I was doing," Dawe explained. "I stepped out of the security line and made a life changing decision to stand up for what I believe inane turn down the check I would be receiving for my appearance on this show."
Even after explaining to producers that he was not involved with Abraham in the way she had claimed, Dawe says producers still wanted him on the show and even offered him $15,000 to participate. Still, it wasn't worth it to him and he moved on, speaking only once more to Abraham via text, which raises questions regarding her alleged phone calls to him on the series.
"The producers knew this relationship was fake. I notified them that it was not real before taping began," he continued. "I really hope that the producers didn't tell Dr. Jenn Berman they had this knowledge, and if they did inform her then there are some serious ethical issues with that situation."
As for why he felt the need to go public with this information, Dawe said it's all about being honest. "My only purpose for coming out against it is to clear my name and to take a public stance against the culture of exploiting people through reality television and the media," he stated. "Reality TV is about as far from reality you can get."
